CCHA Show Rules
All events shall be governed by the gneral rules and regulations of CCHA except that when CCHA has no rule, the published rules of AQHA shall govern where applicable.
Points:

1. Points will be kept on all CCHA approved classes in the following manner:
a. Points are awarded to the exhibitor in each class.
b. In timed events, an exhibitor can enter as many horses as the wish but the horse that is ridden through the gate first is the designated point horse for that class on that date.
2. Points will be awarded on a sliding scale from five points for a first place finish down to one point for fifth place. A ½ point will be given to each member that shows in a class that did not place in the top 5 places.
3. Points will be awarded only to classes listed in the high point categories.
4. Five places are to be awarded in all classes. Any other awards will be the decision of the CCHA.
After the fourth show in a show season, any person joining the club for membership WILL NOT be able to receive points for the show year but will still be recognized as a member for any other CCHA benefits.
5. No exhibitor will be eligible for year end awards:
a. If that exhibitor has not shown in a majority of the available point classes for that year. Example: If there are 6 shows the exhibitor will have to show in at least 4 shows. If there are 7 shows the exhibitor will have to show in at least 4 shows.
b. If the exhibitor has not logged a minimum of 10 hours working at a CCHA horse show or an approved event.
6. In the event of a tie it will be broken in the following manner (class by class)
a. The exhibitor showing in the greatest number of CCHA shows in the effected class.
b. The exhibitor that has earned points in the greatest number of CCHA approved shows in the effected class.
c. The exhibitor that has placed the highest in the greatest number of approved CCHA shows in the effected class.
d. If the tie still exists, by flip of a coin
e. Payback will be given in each class according to number of entries in the class.

Judges:
7. If a judge should not arrive for a show or have to leave for any reason before the show is completed, the directors of CCHA present shall select a judge from the persons available at the show and his/her decision will be the same as the original judge.
8. The judge will be provided a card for each class upon which he will place the ten winners by riding number. The judge will sign the card and turn it into the show announcer who will attach it to the class entry forms.
9. Neither the judge nor any member of his/her family shall exhibit or act as agent or handler for any horse entered in any class he/she is judging.
10. The judge shall have the authority to place a horse in whatever position in a class he/she thinks the merits of the horse justifies. The judge’s decision shall be final.
11. In any class the judge or point committee shall have the authority to require the removal or alteration of any piece of equipment which in their opinion would tend to give a horse unfair advantage or which they believe to be inhumane.
12. The judge may order an exhibitor from the competition for bad conduct of either rider or horse.
13. The judge has the option of whether to drop a bit on a horse in any class, except where a protest is lodged.
14. The judge is required to use the whole show arena in pleasure class, even pony classes.
Protests:
15. Any persons wishing to protest anything in a class shall make a $25.00 cash deposit with the show manager before the next class begins. The announcer will announce that a protest has been filed and the name of the protestor.
16. If the directors present at the show uphold the protest, the deposit will be refunded. If the protest in not upheld, the $25.00 will be forfeited to the association.
17. Any protest must be ruled on before the next class starts.
18. If a pony is contested at one of the CCHA shows, and the pony in question measures over 52” then that pony will be disqualified for the remainder of the year and will lose all previous points.

General Show Rules:
19. All CCHA shows will start at 11:00 am and the running will not start before 4:00 pm unless otherwise directed by the board of the CCHA.
20. The directors of the CCHA will set entry fees.
21. The directors of the CCHA will set grounds fees.
22. The CCHA will have a ring master to assist the judge in any way the judge deems necessary.
23. The announcer will call all horses in judged events by number only while judging is in progress and until the judge has turned in his scorecard. In announcing winners of all events, the announcer must give name of rider and horse.
24. Coggins tests must be current within one year to be on the show grounds.
25. CCHA is protected by the Mississippi Equine Law which will be posted at the arena.
26. No alcohol, drugs or fire arms on grounds.
27. Memberships are: Family ($25.00) Individual ($15.00)
28. Memberships will receive points with CCHA & SCMHA.

Timed Events:
29. If there is an elimination, the same exhibitor must exhibit the same horse in the elimination contest.
30. In the event of a tie, the exhibitors have an option to run the tiebreaker off or to determine the winner by a flip of coin.
31. In deciding ties in running events, the winning horse must run within two seconds of the original run or the tie must be re-run.
32. CCHA will have one person or person over eighteen years of age reading the clocks at all times.
33. During a timed event should a rider make a qualifying ride and the time is missed through no fault of the rider, they shall be allowed two re-rides to make a qualifying ride under the following conditions:
a. If the make a qualifying run on the first re-run then that time stands.
b. Only if the rider knocks a barrel or pole over on the first re-run do they get a second re-run.
34. If a rider breaks the pattern in the running event before the clock malfunctioned the rider does not get a re-run
35. Stake race may start from either side.
36. Plastic barrels will be used in all barrel classes.
37. Exhibition rides will be at the end of each set of events. (example: at the end of the barrel classes then exhibition barrels will be held. Same for poles, quads and etc.)The board of CCHA will set the fee for exhibition rides.
38. During timed events the show ring will be dragged at least every 15 horses, unless conditions warrant a lesser number. The board of directors or their designee will govern this.
39. There will be a 15 minute warm up period between the judged events and the start of the timed events.
40. If the top of a pole or barrel touches the ground, it is considered down whether or not it stands back up.

Exhibitor Rules and Conduct
41. Non-member riding number for judged events will be at the sign up desk.
42. New member riding numbers for judged events will be assigned by a designated person each year.
43. An exhibitor cannot enter a class after the class has been called. No exhibitor may enter the arena after the judging has begun.
44. Exhibitor’s name and horse’s name must appear on the entry form.
45. A horse may be entered only one time in each class.
46. Any contestant withdrawing from a class will forfeit their fee except in the cases of injury or sickness to themselves or their horse this includes if their entries are on a rab.
47. A contestant’s age will be determined by his/her age as of January 1st of that show year.
48. No youth (17 & under) will be fastened in a saddle in any fashion.
49. In timed events only, hats are optional.
50. Dress code in judged events will be governed by AQHA rules.
51. Unsportsmanlike conduct WILL NOT be tolerated. The directors of CCHA will decide on severity of actions taken against said person in question. The actions could include losing points accumulated at that show, being asked to leave the premises and/or other appropriated actions for the unsportsmanlike conduct.
52. Disobedience set forth in the CCHA rules and regulations can result in actions taken against the person determined by the Directors of the CCHA.

Ponies
53. Maximum height for ponies is 52”
54. Every Pony showing at a CCHA show must be measured.
55. Ponies will be measured from the withers to ground (including shoes).
56. There will be two people measuring each pony. These people will not have a child showing in a pony class.
57. There will be 4 safety people in the ring during pony riding classes.

Gaited Classes
58. Gaited horses will not be asked to back in gaited classes.
59. Two hands on the reins are optional but may not be changed after the class has begun.
60. Gaited classes can use 6 ounce chains but not boots. Classes will be designated as open, keg shoe or padded.

Gaited English
61. Cut back English style saddle. Plain breast strap may be used.
62. Single rein bridles and bits are to be used. The reins may be either smooth leather or laced leather but not long and hanging like western reins. Rhinestone brow bands are allowed.
63. Attire should be a saddle suit. Shirt worn under coat may either be sleeveless, short sleeve or long sleeve. Coat length should be from fingertip to mid calf. Pants should have tie downs or underpass pants should also be made of suitable suiting fabric. NO OVERALLS. Jeans may be worn but must be new black jeans. No faded black jeans. Slinkies may be worn by the ladies or girls but must be worn under a coat.
64. Boots may either be English style or western boots.
65. Riding whips may be used and are not to exceed 48” in length.
66. Spurs are optional but if worn must be English in style.
67. Hats may be Hamburg’s top hats, derby, snap, brim or helmets. These are optional.
68. The length of the bits being used should not exceed 10” from the top of the ring that attaches the bridle to the ring attaching neatly at forelock (may be tied to caveson at top of head) and mane.
69. Braids on the horse should be attached neatly at the forelock (may be tied to caveson at top of head) and mane.

Gaited Western
70. Western tack including saddle. Single rein bridles may not be laced but must be western style. Breast straps are optional.
71. Rider may ride either one handed or two handed but rider must not switch from one to other hand during class.
72. Walking horse bits as discussed under English are allowed
73. Attire must be Western in styling with long sleeves and collars which also includes bands, standup or tuxedo Western style hats are to be worn. Hats are optional for ladies.
74. If spurs are worn they must be western style.
